How 3D Printing Is Changing Auto Manufacturing

Image
The automobile has changed quite a bit since Karl Benz invented the motorcar in 1886 and a great majority of those changes are attributable to technological advancements in manufacturing. As manufacturers created new methods of fabricating different materials into ever-more complex shapes and configurations, cars became more efficient, powerful, safe, comfortable, and stylish. The march of progress continues today in the form of 3D printing as manufacturers around the world adopt the technology, including those in the automotive industry. This is evidenced by the rapid growth of the market value of 3D printing in the automotive space. Let’s examine how the industry is currently leveraging 3D printing and consider how it might change in the future.      Car manufacturers have been using 3D printing to check form and fit as well as validate the operation of functional prototypes. For some full-size prototyping such as checking the fit of a rear-v...

TWO CYLINDER STIRLING ENGINE- WORKING PRINCIPLE

Image
TWO CYLINDER STIRLING ENGINE The Stirling engine is one of my favorites.  It was  invented in 1816 by Rev. Robert Stirling of Scotland. The Stirling is a very simple engine, and was often billed as a safe alternative to steam (since there’s no  boiler to explode). It enjoyed some success in industrial  applications, and in small appliances like fans and water pumps, but was eclipsed by  the advent of inexpensive electric motors.  Since it can run  on any source of heat, it now holds promise for alternative fuel  engines, solar power, geothermal power, etc. Stirling engines feature a completely closed system in which the working gas (usually air but sometimes helium or hydrogen) is alternately heated and cooled by shifting the gas to different temperature locations within the system. In the two-cylinder or   alpha configured Stirling, one cylinder is kept hot while the other is kept cool.  In the illustration the lower-left cylinder is...

Treatment options for COVID-19

Image
Self-care Asymptomatic cases, mild cases of COVID-19: Isolate yourself in a well ventilated room. Use a triple layer medical mask, discard mask after 8 hours of use or earlier if they become wet or visibly soiled. In the event of a caregiver entering the room, both caregiver and patient may consider using N 95 mask. Mask should be discarded only after disinfecting it with 1% Sodium Hypochlorite. Take rest and drink a lot of fluids to maintain adequate hydration. Follow respiratory etiquettes at all times. Frequent hand washing with soap and water for at least 40 seconds or clean with alcohol-based sanitizer. Don’t share personal items with other people in the household. Ensure cleaning of surfaces in the room that are touched often (tabletops, doorknobs, handles, etc.) with 1% hypochlorite solution. Monitor temperature daily. Monitor oxygen saturation with a pulse oximeter daily. Connect with the treating physician promptly if any deterioration of symptoms is noticed. Instruction...

Remember that all you need to start living is three things

Image
Passion is what makes most of us successful. If your passion has ever caused you to take control, then you are a great candidate. It is why most people go from unsuccessful to successful in their lifetime.      If you follow your passion, it can happen.  Stress  – Don’t let the stress of life get to you. All you need to do is remove yourself from it in order to feel better. Goals  – There are necessary steps for goal setting, and you can obtain them even if you don’t think that you can. Everyone has a purpose in life. These purposes vary; It’s all about the passion and the motivation that directs you to particular areas in your life. These are locations that have one thing in common, and that is goal setting. If goal setting has been plaguing you for some time and you are not able to do it let alone come up with a master plan, this may be able to help you get one step further. Here is what you can achieve by following steps for go...

WHAT ARE INVISIBLE SOLAR CELLS?

Image
A fully transparent solar cell can be made - a new study led by scientists from Incheon National University in Korea. The first transparent solar cell is demonstrated by an international team of researchers, led by Prof. Joondong Kim from Korea,. in Journal of Power Sources.  Their pioneering technique breaks on a specific part of the solar cell: the heterojunction, made up of thin films of materials accountable for absorbing light. The researchers were able to generate an efficient, transparent solar cell by combining the exclusive properties of titanium dioxide and nickel oxide semiconductors. After the Paris climate agreement, everyone is looking for carbon-free future. A vital part of this goal includes the energy conversion from fossil fuels to renewable sources such as solar, hydro, wind and wave energy. Among those, solar energy has been the foremost expectation in the professional community, as the utmost dependable and plentiful energy source on our planet. No...

Bernoulli’s Principle                                           -   Dr. C. Dhayananth Jegan, M.E., Ph.D,      Bernoulli’s principle formulated by Daniel Bernoulli states that as the speed of a moving fluid increases (liquid or gas), the pressure within the fluid decreases. Although Bernoulli deduced the law, it was Leonhard Euler who derived Bernoulli’s equation in its usual form in the year 1752. Bernoulli’s principle states that - The total mechanical energy of the moving fluid comprising the gravitational potential energy of elevation, the energy associated with the fluid pressure and the kinetic energy of the fluid motion, remains constant.  Bernoulli’s principle can be derived f...
